we are like an egg

so Chay would you like to explain this picture?

Look closely...yes in that bottle is a hard boiled egg...on drugs.

ok so family home evening was quite entertaining last night. Chay had the lesson and so he told me on the phone at work "all I need is a hard boiled egg, a Gatorade bottle, matches and rubbing alcohol." I told him we only had fingernail polish remover. "that should do"

He started out by saying "we are like this egg"...

well his object lesson didn't go over as planned. A shelled hard boiled egg that is normally too big- is supposed to fit through the top of a bottle when there is rubbing alcohol and fire involved. Well for some reason it didn't work so Chay had to keep changing "why we are like an egg". Christ helps us through the impossible but after mutilating the egg and chopping it into pieces so it would fit through the mouth of the bottle forced us to come up with a new analogy real quick...we were laughing pretty hard. Kenzie was pretty intrigued to say the least.

The best part was seeing the bottle still on top of the piano this morning...

OK, I am dying right now about that story of Julia and the eraser! That is a classic! I'm glad that thing is out! I couldn't even imagine having an eraser in my body like that! The poor girl! I also love the FHE/hard boiled egg story! Thats hilarous. At least you got her attention, right? I'm going to have to borrow that sometime as Tuckers attention span is like .5 seconds.

Yeah, the hard boiled egg thing didn't work too well, but we all loved it. Maybe next week I'll try and implement bottle rockets and M-80s into the lesson....maybe compare them to Hell or what happens when we follow the "things of the world." It's all fun and games when following the crowd until you get blown up or something along those lines....

Tune in next week for the sequel.

We are like an egg... 'rotten?' 'delicious'? which one? :)

Dang it when these cool object lessons don't quite work as we want.

Getting into Heaven can be very messy. I think you are suppose to peel the egg (representing our spirit leaving our body?), then use the fire and alchohol.

Thank you Anonymous for the great idea...and by the way the egg was de-shelled. I should edit my post. That doesn't seem to make sense. Maybe it was the extra chemicals in the fingernail polish-but whatever the reason it didn't work...I think my egg is going to hell or even better- yes getting into heaven can be very messy. LOL

haha, that sounds like a lesson my kids would enjoy too.
And hey, like you said, I also feel like I've gotten to know you so much better through your writing, I love the connection blogs offer, even for people like us who were never really more than acquaintances. That's funny that you thought I was a fast runner, I remember in 4th grade in Mrs. Lunneburg's class always thinking you had such a fun sounding laugh and trying to laugh like you. Kids can be funny huh?...

Hello, so this may sound silly, but I have been looking all over the internet for this lesson and you were the only one that showed up with what I was really looking for. Is there anyway I can get a copy of this lesson? or a summed up version of the lesson? I was taught this lesson 5 years ago for FHE by the Elders in my Mom's area while I was visiting and I loved it! It always stuck with me.. but now that I have my own family to have FHE with I want to do this for my daughter and the missionaries here, but cant remember exactly how it goes.. help please? Thanks in advance!
