everything edie kaye

I am going to do it and it's going to be a lot of work...

I'm making a book on blurb about Mom. This book will be everything Edie Kaye. Her life history, pictures, letters, motherhood, the church, marriage, memories, stories, funnies, her family, traditions, callings, friends, personality, her loves, her dislikes...her words of wisdom...

I have gone through two bins full of Mom's pictures, letters, and life history stuff these past two days and have organized it all by dates and events. (Joette, you would be so proud) It was emotional to witness once again how many people loved her. She has stacks of letters given to her over the years by so many different people--and these letters are the heartfelt kind of letters--the "5 pagers" kind of letters, expressing how much they are grateful for Mom and her example.

There's a reason for the picture of the chain...does anybody know?

So yes I have a big job ahead of me...but this book is just something I MUST do...for posterity's sake and for Mom's sake. This will be the ultimate way of telling her Thank You.

Um check out this picture I found of my mom in 1968. Don't you just love the coat?

Wow - this is be such a treasure when it is done! You should look at the BYU courses about writing a life history. I read it because I'm working on my grandma's. It is amazing and will give you some great ideas of how to organize it, how to tell her story and also some other interesting things. The course is really just about 20 pages to read - very simple and so helpful!

I think that that is a great idea! I would love to take a look at it when you are done. That is a big task, but something that will be SO worth it! Good luck! And yes, I LOVE that coat! :) She was so stylish!

Hey April! that is SOO awesome and will be a big project. Just pace yourself. BTW! I just started as a consultant with Heritage Makers doing exactly that, online storybooking! (But it's way better than blurb). You should check out Heritage Makers and see if you don't wanna do your book on our program...unless you've already started and into your project. you'll have way more flexiblilty on the actual program, we can scan in your pics on a GOOD scanner, and the books are better quality. Anyway let me know if you have any questions...(509) 981-0290 and you can check out my website...www.meganscreativecorner.info.
love ya. good luck. your family will be so happy that you are doing this project to honor her and her posterity.

I came across your blog and just started reading because my mom passed away in December, and I made a scrap book for her viewing. I also passed out stationary and addressed envelopes for people to send memories to my dad over the next few months. See, our family is pretty young. I am the youngest and I am still in college. Anyways, I felt kind of an instant connection with your writing. Funny thing - I bet it was our faith that connected. It is so weird as I have been browsing through blogs how you can just connect with some of them and you just get a feeling that the people writing them have some similarities to you. Then, as I scrolled down I saw mention of the LDS church. I am a member too. Anyway, thank you for your posts.

Michelle, I can truly say I am so sorry about your Mom. You must have known she was going to die to have time to make a book for her viewing...

I think I was in denial or felt my mom would pull out of it somehow...it wasn't until the very end I knew it was finally here.

What is your story?

I need to jump over to your blog and check it out. I know what you mean about feeling a connection to random people and their blogs-

I have connected with quite a few people through my blog who have lost a parent or who have MS- once in a while it's nice to know life can suck for other people too sometimes :)
