trusting the Weaver's hand

It seems as I go through Mom's keepsakes, I discover she didn't collect much of anything unless it was super sentimental.

I am proud of you Mom for not being a pack rat of all those many church handouts and non meaningful Christmas/birthday cards. I would have never guessed- especially knowing what your craft room used to look like over the years :)

But I did stumble upon this poem in Mom's stuff- it must have spoken to Mom the same way it spoke to me. I can see why she decided to put it in her keepsake box...this quote made sense to her- she knew and trusted God was doing something great with her despite her many trials.

The Weaver

My life is but a weaving between my God and me,
I can not choose the colors He worketh steadily.

Ofttimes He weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride,
forget that He seeth the upper, and I the underside.

Not till the loam is silent and the shuttles cease to fly,
shall God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful in the Weaver's skillful hand,
as the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.

~Al Bryant

Thank you for keeping this Mom so I could find it today. Who knew you would still be influencing our lives the way you are from the other side.

Last night I was studying from the Book of Mormon manual and reading in Jacob. It talked about the importance of documenting special experiences, quotes and other things that the Spirit touches us with. I love that your mom kept things that she cherished, that could also be cherished by her posterity. So wise!
